Batch Production

Batch production is where your production plans become reality. Each batch is tracked with a unique ID for traceability.

Overview

When you execute a production plan, each item creates a Recipe Production (batch). The batch:

  • Consumes ingredients from inventory
  • Tracks which lots were used
  • Records the finished quantity
  • Adds completed products to inventory

Production Workflow

Production Plan Item Recipe Production Inventory
      ┌───┐ ┌───┐ ┌───┐
      │ │ ──► Execute ──► │ │ ──► Process ──►│ │
      └───┘ └───┘ └───┘
                          Batch Record
                          (for tracing)

Status Flow

Each batch moves through statuses:

Status Meaning
Draft Created but not started
Processing Currently being made
Completed Finished, inventory updated
Cancelled Cancelled before completion

Executing a Batch

  1. Open your Production Plan
  2. Click Execute on an item
  3. Confirm ingredients are available
  4. Process the batch when complete

During Production

Action What Happens
Process Deducts ingredients, adds finished product to inventory
Record substitution Log when you use a different ingredient
Force production Proceed even with insufficient inventory (creates negative stock)
Cancel Stop production without inventory changes

Inventory Integration

Consumption (FIFO)

When lot tracking is enabled, ingredients are consumed in FIFO order (First In, First Out). The system:

  1. Identifies available lots
  2. Consumes oldest lots first
  3. Records which lots were used (for traceability)

Finished Goods

Completed batches add inventory:

  • Assigned a unique Batch ID
  • Recorded with production date
  • Available for use in other recipes or sale

Substitutions

If an ingredient isn't available, you can substitute:

  1. Select the substitute ingredient
  2. Enter a reason for the substitution
  3. The substitution is recorded for traceability

Warning

Substitutions may affect allergen information. Review allergens when substituting ingredients.
