A Menu for Your Storefront

The storefront sells menu items, not recipes. Give an item a name and a price, publish the menu, and customers can order it. Link a recipe later when you want food cost.

Create the menu

  1. Open Operations → Menu Management → All Menus
  2. Click New Menu (or Create your first menu if the list is empty)
  3. In Create New Menu, enter a Menu Name
  4. Click Create Menu

New Menu opens Create New Menu and the Menu Name field.

The menu starts with a section called Main. Rename it, or click Add Section and name another group, such as "Trays" or "Boxed lunches".

You can archive a menu later from the menus list. Archived menus can be restored from Archived. Archiving hides the menu. It does not delete your items.

Add a priced item

  1. Open the section
  2. Click Add item
  3. Click Add new menu item, or the check button labeled Create new menu item
  4. Enter a Menu item name
  5. Enter a Base price
  6. Click Create Menu Item

Base price is what the customer pays. The form says you can add recipes and components after creation. That's optional. Items without a recipe show a dash under servings, because there's nothing to scale.

The same item can be added to another menu later. Search for it from Add item instead of creating a second copy.

Publish it to the store

On the menu page, in the details next to Menu Contents:

The Published switch is the Webstore control on that menu.

Control Set it to Why
Status Active Inactive menus are hidden from the store
Webstore Published This is the switch that puts the menu online

When Webstore says Published, Go to store appears beside it. That opens the public storefront for this location.

Turn Webstore back to Not published to pull the menu off the store. The menu stays in your account, and you can publish it again.

Important

Publish storefront still has to be on under Webstore settings, and delivery or pickup hours have to be saved. A published menu on an unpublished store isn't visible. See Publishing Your Store.

The Menus section of Webstore settings lists every menu that is published. Drag items inside a section on the menu page to change the order customers see.

When you want food cost

Open the menu item and attach a recipe. Cost and margin on the menu line come from that recipe. Customers already see the Base price either way.

Photos, a website description, badges, and a per-item lead time live on the item. See What Customers See.

Common Questions

Q: The store is live, but this menu isn't on it.
A: Check both switches. Status must be Active and Webstore must be Published. Then refresh the public link.

Q: I don't have recipes yet. Can I still publish?
A: Yes. Name and Base price are what the store needs.

Q: I published the wrong menu.
A: Turn Webstore off. That menu leaves the store immediately. Other published menus stay up.
