What Customers See

A name and a Base price are enough to publish a dish. The Storefront section on the menu item is what fills in the page customers actually read: the photo, the description, the badge, and any extra notice that dish needs.

Open the item from the menu, or from Operations → Menu Management → Menu Items, then click Storefront.

Fields on this page save on their own after you pause. You can change them later. Nothing here removes the item from the menu.

Caution

Disclaimer: PrepStation's allergen tracking is a tool to assist with food safety management, not a substitute for professional guidance. Always consult with a qualified food safety professional, registered dietitian, or allergen specialist for compliance with local regulations and to ensure the safety of your customers. Verify allergen information with your suppliers and conduct your own due diligence.

Copy, badges, and dietary chips

On Storefront:

Website description and Feature this item are in that section.

Section Fields What they do
Merchandising Badge, Badge style, Feature this item A short label such as Popular or New, and a highlight on the storefront home and category views
Website copy Website description, Serving size The sales description and a line such as "Serves 10–12". A blank description uses the regular item description
Dietary tags Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-free, Dairy-free, Nut-free, Halal, Kosher, Spicy Chips on the card and the item page. These are labels you turn on
Custom details Add detail, then Label and Value Extra rows in Product details, such as Reheating or Storage. Remove detail drops a row

Feature this item is a highlight. Turn it off to take the item out of that highlight. The item stays on the menu.

Ordering rules for one dish

Ordering rules apply only to this item. Store hours still apply. See Hours and Limits.

Field What it does
Minimum quantity The smallest amount a customer can add
Lead time hours Extra notice for this dish. It tightens the store schedule only when this item needs more time than the store already requires
Allow customer customization On: customers pick add-ons and choices before the item goes in the cart. Off: they get the item as you configured it, including your default modifier choices

Ingredients and allergens

Ingredients & allergens is the Product details panel on the public item page.

  • Ingredients is the text you want customers to read
  • Show recipe allergens lists allergens already recorded on the recipe's ingredients. If none are detected yet, add those ingredients and their allergens first. See Allergens

A link at the top of Storefront opens the public item page. If the item isn't on a published menu yet, the link says it will be live once the menu is published and the webstore is on.

Common Questions

Q: I published the menu and the cards look empty.
A: Name and price are on the card. Add a Menu Item Image and a Website description when you want the card to sell the dish.

Q: I set a 48-hour lead time on one tray. Does that change the whole store?
A: That item needs 48 hours. Other items still follow the store schedule.

Q: Customers aren't seeing toppings.
A: Turn on Allow customer customization, and make sure the item has modifier groups. See Understanding Modifiers.

Q: Why is there a note about a service fee on the menu?
A: The location charges a Service Fee. Its name, percent and explanation appear on the menu, each item page, search, the cart and checkout, so customers know before they order. See Sales Tax.
